Levant Sparrow-hawk sheltering from the heat of the day amongst the branches of a desert palm. The Levant Sparrowhawk is a migratory raptor, often wintering in the deserts of Egypt. They generally hunt from a hidden perch, relying on speed and surprise to catch small birds, insects, lizards, mice and voles. Levant sparrowhawks hunt mostly during the day though they also feed on aerial prey such as bats at during twilight hours.
