Razorfish, poised in their strange habit of swimming snout down. Razorfish swim in synchronised groups, all of them aligned in a vertical position with their snouts down. This unusual habit is an adaptation that gives them the ability to hide within the spines of sea urchins, both to hide whilst they hunt and to hide from predators. They also have the advantage of being variable in their colouring, matching the greens and browns of the corals within their crevice in the reef or changing to white with a black stripe when amongst white sand or rubble.
