Pocillopora are a family of stony corals which are distinct by the wart-like growths on their surface, hence the common name Cauliflower coral. They vary in their colour and shape, although they are normally dome-like structures of semi-branching corals.

Pocillopora are a family of stony corals which are distinct by the wart-like growths on their surface, hence the common name Cauliflower coral. They vary in their colour and shape, although they are normally dome-like structures of semi-branching corals. Each individual polyp has tentacles which normally extend at night. Cauliflower corals are widespread as they not only attach themselves to reefs but also to floating objects.
