Variegated Lizardfish camouflaged within the vibrant reds and greens of sea sponges and other sea creatures thriving of the reef. The mottled colouring and patterns of a Variegated Lizardfish enable them to blend into the coral background rendering them invisible to small passing fishes. When prey comes too close, they dart out and catch them with ultra sharp teeth.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific: Red Sea and East Africa to the Hawaiian, Line, Marquesan, and Ducie islands, north to the Ryukyu Islands, south to the Lord Howe, Kermadec and Rapa islands.
